When the caravans of pilgrims went from Makkah to Madinah in vehicles for the first time

The King Abdulaziz Academy in Saudi Arabia has released a historic photo showing a convoy of pilgrims traveling from Mecca to Medina for the first time. About a century ago, on July 19, 1927, the journey of vehicles from Mecca to Medina began. According to the Sabq News website, the historical picture is 94 years old in which these historical events of July 19, 1927 were preserved in pictorial form.

In the historical picture, the pilgrims are being taken from Makkah to Madinah in the usual vehicles of that time, while the road from Makkah to Madinah was not paved at that time. Due to the unpaved corridor, the distance from Jeddah to Madinah, which is now about 430 km, was then covered in 16 hours. The Saudi Ministry of Transport has laid out a splendid network of roads in the kingdom, reducing the 16-hour journey to just four hours in the past, while the high-speed train now takes three hours to travel from Mecca to Medina. Prior to July 19, 1927, in addition to the pilgrims, the locals traveled this distance on horses, camels and mules, which took them several days.
